Kegs Softball Club held its first open recruitment day of the year on 28 February at Railway Union Sports Club, and it proved to be a great success for the club.
With around 15 people in attendance, the session brought together a fantastic mix of brand new players and those with previous softball experience. From the first warm-up throws, there was a strong sense of energy and enthusiasm across the group. The afternoon focused on introducing core skills, getting everyone involved in drills, and giving attendees a real feel for how the club trains and plays.
What stood out most was not just the level of skill on display, but the attitude of everyone who came along. Players approached the session with positivity, willingness to learn, and a genuine team spirit. It was exactly the kind of environment Kegs prides itself on creating. There was plenty of encouragement, a lot of laughter, and some impressive early-season hitting and fielding.
Beyond the drills and batting practice, the day was also about building connections. After the session wrapped up, many of the group headed to Slatterys to continue the introductions and get to know one another off the field. It was a great way to round off the afternoon and begin building the camaraderie that is so important during the season.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who came along and gave their time and energy to the session. The quality, enthusiasm, and potential on show have us genuinely excited about the months ahead.
As preparations continue for the new season, this open day has set a strong foundation. If you missed out but are still interested in getting involved, keep an eye on our channels for upcoming sessions. We are very much looking forward to what is to come in 2026.
Thanks to WBSC for sponsoring the day!
